This blog entry is about a topic that often sparks debate in the art world: AI photography. Before you start to raise an eyebrow, let me clarify that artificial intelligence is not here to replace traditional photography. Despite the fact I was skeptical at first like others, I’ve discovered that it’s a useful tool that can smoothly blend with photography, enabling me to experiment with innovative concepts.
AI: The Ultimate Wingman
Let’s start with the fact that the artificial intelligence won’t steal your camera and it won’t press the erase button on your artistic vision, instead think of AI as your assistant. As a photographer, I find inspirations from different sources, one of my favorite source is music, recently I’ve been listening to a Spotify channel called “Miami Nights 1984”. The beats and vibes from those days have shaped into my imagination a mood that recalls a groovy 80s Miami atmosphere. But here’s the twist, I’m shooting in the middle of the Arizona desert! With the help of AI, I was able to blend the two worlds, turning a desert mansion into a Scarface-inspired dream. More importantly I was able to stay faithful to my initial idea.
I Bet You Love a Good Mystery..
AI features allow me to add layers of intrigue and storytelling to my photographs. An old Western church and a lone cowboy emerging from the unknown, what brings him here? redemption or a cryptic agenda? Let me reveal you a little secret: AI features like generative fill work best when they are part of your vision from the start. If I’m planning to use AI, I’m going to have the final result and story in mind before capturing an image.
Layers of Storytelling
AI becomes my reliable assistant friend when I decide to add that extra layer of thrill to my photos. The image above is another example how I bring elements together to create a story with endless possibilities. As I’ve mentioned before, by planning ahead photography and AI can coexist. The outcome enhances the depth of my stories and it maintains my signature style.
Dance of Photography and AI
The main concept behind this blog post it’s not about photography VS AI, but it’s about AI and photography dancing together and having fun. In a so not distant past.. I told you that music is a great source of inspiration for my ideas and compositions, I also enjoy great music and spinning vinyl records. With AI generated elements, I could create a scene that reminds me of the energy of a summer in Ibiza. The stage is set, the DJ is playing.
Smooth AI Blends
I don’t see AI as the photographers enemy, actually I think it’s a useful tool as long you prioritize originality. I think it’s extremely important to keep in mind that the artist must be in full control behind the end result. As I’ve described my workflow above, I suggest you to have in mind the AI elements you will add before shooting, this way you will achieve a smooth blend while maintaining your creative identity.
Dear friends, I hope you enjoyed the article, gained interesting insights about AI potential, plus ideas how a non-disruptive use can add something extra to your photography. Until next time, keep capturing unusual shots, maybe with AI by your side.
