Welcome to Palm Springs, a popular resort city in the southern California desert. This selective photo spots tour will highlight iconic landmarks and original perspectives. Beyond the typical instagrammer shots, let’s explore Palm Springs through my camera lens.

Off the Beaten Path

Secret Drive-In

The visual journey begins in the area close to the Indian Canyons Golf Resort. This part of the city is a gem for photographers, it offers abundance for cool photography, from alluring landscapes, timeless mid-century modern designs and classic cars. Channeling my inner Bond, after an extensive photo research, it’s the “Secret Drive-In” that revealed that original capture I had never encountered online. This brief backstory is a reminder that adding your personal stroke will reveal new angles to your images.

Iconic Desert House

A Palm Springs photo tour can’t be completed without visiting the iconic Kaufmann Desert House. This exceptional architecture, famously capture by Slim Aarons in “Poolside Gossip”, defines the mid-century modern design. Interestingly enough, the Kaufmann House served as inspiration for the Barbie house in the movie. But hey, even the fantastic world of Barbie couldn’t overshadow the charm of this architectural beauty.

The photographic opportunities around this desert resort city are endless, there are two popular Palm Springs signs that stand as iconic photo spots. If I were to play favorites, my choice is the “Welcome to Palm Springs” version near the Indianland area. Why I suggest this spot? It’s because the imposing mountain backdrop will provide an interesting canvas for your composition.

Mid-Century Modernism

In Palm Springs, mid-century modernism it’s not only a design but also a philosophy that offers incredible photo opportunities. The surrounding scenery and the vintage aesthetics will transport you to a nostalgic retro chic playground.
